Gaskushu TANAKA born 1990, and based in Fukuoka.
He was born originally a left-hander.
His parents made him attend to Japanese-Calligraphy lessons.
Through this opportunity, he started to learn it from 7 years old.
When his teens, he mainly learned traditional Japanese-Calligraphy only,
but when he became over 20 years old, encountered avant-garde calligraphy.
Avant-garde calligraphy has “free style expressions beyond the characters” and “possibilities”,
that impacted to him greatly.
After that, while he continues to master the great traditional Japanese-Calligraphy, on the other hand, as an avant-garde calligraphy artist, has been releasing actively his works. His works are such as, expressions of his images by abstract lines of Japanese-Calligraphy, putting the unique expressions of sumi to good use into works.
Recent years, his theme is “ the present age: rapidly advancing technology unify with people and society”, and such his original style is, now beyond the field of Japanese-Calligraphy, sublimating in works of modern art.
As a Japanese-calligrapher, he still continues earnest attitude to master and follow the great footsteps of traditions and spirits, techniques.
At the same time, as “an avant-garde calligraphy artist”, who always pursuits new expressions for setting himself free, keeps expanding the possibility of his works and himself, and changing.
